Aviation minister sets a good example for VIPs

New Delhi: At a time when much heat has been generated over the special privileges enjoyed by members of Parliament and other VIPs, civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has set a good example with his simplicity, that perhaps ought to be emulated by other ministers, MPs and VIPs.
Ministry sources said Mr Raju refuses to take a special airconditioned ferry car at airports, which he is entitled to as civil aviation minister, and instead boards the ordinary bus for passengers from the airport terminal to the tarmac where the aircraft is parked. Mr Raju also insists on going through the routine pre-embarkation security check even though as a minister he is entitled to an exemption. He also carries his own bags at airports.
