Hyderabad: Ahmed Mohiuddin breaks into tears every now and then. After a sleepless night, the 70-year-old retired engineer says his son is innocent and has been framed.
His son Salman Mohiuddin (32) was arrested by police early on Friday from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport when he was on his way to Dubai. Salman was picked up for his alleged links with Islamic State. “I am hundred per cent sure that my son is innocent and cannot do anything illegal,” said Ahmed on Saturday at his home, adding that his son has been targeted because of his Muslim identity.
The family had wished luck and seen him off at the airport late on Thursday night, half an hour after which they received a message from Salman informing that he was not allowed to fly. “We were on our way back home and upon receiving the message, we returned to the airport. We were told it was a minor issue but later officials did not allow me to meet my son. They said some material has been found from his laptop. They have decided he is a criminal and detained him,” Ahmed rued. “We are going through severe mental trauma ever since,” lamented Ahmed.
