New Delhi: Faced with the prospect of a looming strike on March 11 called by the unions at airports across the country operated by the state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI), the government seems to have swung into damage-control mode by considering amending the proposed Request for Proposal (RFP) for privatisation of operation and management of the AAI-run Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Jaipur airports.
The amendement will see to it that 100 per cent of AAI staffers working at these four airports are absorbed by the future private operators if the staffers so desire.
The civil aviation ministry sources said the government was earlier considering insisting that only 60 per cent of AAI staffers at these four airports be absorbed at the same airports by the future private operators there.
