Advisory Committee moots further development of Kolkata airport

Kolkata: The Airport Advisory Committee at the NSC Bose International Airport has suggested a slew of development initiatives for further improvement of passenger amenities.

To firm up the plans, a meeting of the AAC was held at the airport here today under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy, a Airports Authority of India (AAI) spokesperson said.


Role of the AAC, constituted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, entails community participation for passenger facilities at the airport.

The Committee discussed issues such as maintaining cleanliness around the Airport area by Civil Authorities, cleaning of drains/storm water drains, beautification of the VIP approach road, pre-paid taxi sytem, city side traffic management, decongestion at Kaikhali junction and VIP Road and construction of underground sub-way at Kaikhali crossing, besides a proposal to introduce Volvo Bus services at night.
