New Delhi: Ground has been set it seems for yet another confrontation within the Air India family. As always it's management Vs employees. The latest in the series is the controversial circular issued on 30 Jan 2015 which among other things states "in case of delays occurring on account of late reporting by cabin crew, pilots or delays on account of engineering/ground handling personnel or late catering by caterers the loss would be recovered from them. Salaries shall be paid only after the related deductions have been effected".
Flight delays in Air India are frequent and the fear of salary cut has left the employees fuming. All India Cabin Crew Association the union of the Air India cabin crew has written a stinging letter to the Secretary Civil Aviation listing 7 points on how the mismanagement in the airline is robbing the national carrier of its image and is also the prime reason for flight delays. Headlines Today is in the exclusive possession of the letter. The letter says ".. that the circular issued is misleading would be an understatement.. lack of professionalism, nepotism and cronyism is solely responsible for all delays ". The Union arm asks how is it possible to apply for casual leaves 45 days in advance.
