Margao: With Congress leader Ramakant Khalap batting for Mopa airport at the EIA hearing at Pernem, Congress leadership on Monday sought to distance itself from the stand adopted by the former Union Minister.
Goa Pradesh Congress Party Chief Luizinho Faleiro on Monday said that Khalap must have gone to the EIA hearing in his personal capacity.
“I am certain that Khalap has outlined his stand on the airport in his personal capacity and not as Congress party spokesman,” Faleiro said, while trying to play down the embarrassment caused to the party leadership.
The GPCC Chief made it categorically clear that the party has already taken a stand against the Mopa airport, a decision he said was taken by the party in the presence of Leader of the Opposition Pratapsing Rane and other leaders.
