Emirates A380 Coddles Indian Travelers from San Francisco

Free wifi onboard. Movies in Bengali, Urdu, Malayalam and Marathi. And a free pair of fluffy socks: all in economy class.

As for business and first class, the sky’s the limit, with a trendy onboard cocktail lounge, chauffeured rides to the airport, gourmet food and wine, and top-of-the-line amenities — including a spa-quality shower in first class.

Executives from Emirates airline are doing their best to persuade travelers to India to hop aboard the newest addition to their fleet, the huge double-decker Airbus 380, which has been flying from San Francisco International Airport to Dubai since Dec. 1, 2014. The airline now has 58 A380s in its fleet, representing one-third of all A380s currently in the skies, more than any other airline.

At an industry event Feb. 13 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Manoj Shailendra, senior sales executive for Special Markets (Northwest U.S.), told India-West, “The A380 is a unique product in the sky. Some airlines also have the A380, but how we configure it makes it special.”
