Gold worth Rs 2 crore seized from under a seat of AI flight

Chennai: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) busted a smuggling racket, arrested three passengers and seized 7.7kg of gold worth 2.14crore at the Chennai airport on Thursday.

Based on inputs officials sezied 3.712kg of gold from under a seat of an Air India flight from Muscat to Chennai that arrived at 3.45am.
The rest of the 4kg gold was seized from another passenger whose flight landed at 6.45am.

"A domestic passenger was supposed to retrieve this 4kg gold bars from under the seat of the fight which flew from Chennai to Mumbai," said an officer.
