Bengaluru: All 72 aircraft lined up for the show have landed at the Yelahanka Air Force Station. STOI caught up with the pilots of two aerobatic teams for information about what we can expect.
Flying vintage Russian aircraft (YAK-50 and YAK-52), the Yakovlevs are pegged The UK's Finest Russian Aerobatic Display Team and its lead pilot Jez Hopkinson said: "Having completed over 1,000 shows covering 10 countries in the past decade or so, Bengaluru has the best weather for flying."
About the aircraft, Hopkinson said: "A lot of changes have been incorporated to keep them flying, but the aircraft is Russian and we had to take special permission from Russia to retain the same colours as their planes." He added, "These planes were used in the war and we still maintain the same paint composition as the Soviets."
The famous wing walkers, featuring para experts on the wings of the aircraft while its airborne, the Scandinavian Airshow team is among the top draws.
