Two women held for smuggling gold worth about Rs one crore

New Delhi: Two women have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs one crore at international airport here in separate incidents.

"A woman was intercepted by customs officials after her arrival from Hongkong here yesterday.
On personal search, eight pieces of gold bar weighing 2.7 kgs were recovered," a press release issued today by the customs said.

The value of the gold seized from the woman, who hails from neighbouring Ghaziabad, is assessed to be Rs 68.51 lakh, it said.
