Ahmedabad: Probe into the 60-kg-gold smuggling case, detected by crime branch at the city airport last week, seems to be lost in letters among various agencies. In the past one week, only letters have been exchanged among three agencies while the accused were in remand.
Since the seizure was made right outside the airport and the value of gold is more than Rs 1 crore, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs have written to crime branch asking for the details of the case for further investigation. Initially, the Customs department wrote to crime branch asking for information. Later, the crime branch wrote to DRI saying that it wishes to hand over the case details and the seized gold to the intelligence agency.
