The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has formulated an action plan for “Incredible India Bed & Breakfast /Home Stay Scheme”. “As Home Stay/Bed & Breakfast is the need of the hour, it was decided to revisit the scheme guidelines and update it based on present and future requirements,” MoT said in a PIB release. The action plan will ensure expansion of Home Stay scheme in states where it is already prevalent and introduction where it is not there.
The plan will move towards ease of doing business through rationalisation of taxes, simplification of procedures, etc. and will see launch of an aggressive marketing strategy to enlist more B&B establishments. In order to promote the scheme on a fast-track mode, online travel agents (OTAs) will be involved in the process. The action plan was formulated after groups were constituted to study various aspects of this scheme and submit recommendations in a time bound manner.
