New Delhi: State-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI), with a new boss at its helm, has decided to reorient itself as an enterprise by bidding for the new facility that's planned for Goa. This is the first time that the organisation will be pitting itself against competition from the private sector, which includes several global companies, in building new airports in India.
"We have got the board's approval to bid for the new greenfield airport in Goa," said a senior AAI official who did not want to be named. "We will soon be registering our interest for the project." The deadline for this is February 12.
AAI will likely form a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to bid for the Rs 3,000 crore project, the person said. "However, other details will be worked out post the bidding parameters for the airport project are declared."
