Bhubaneswar: A 62-year-old Singapore-based Indian businessman was arrested and his passport seized by the City Police after he was charged with making sexual advances to a woman in a Bhubaneswar-bound Indigo flight from Mumbai a few days back.
The accused businessman has been slapped charges under Section 354 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.
While he submitted his passport, the businessman, a native of Rourkela, was granted bail after giving an undertaking that he would appear for investigation when asked by the police.
According to the complainant, who belongs to Bokaro, the incident took place on January 27. The businessman, who was seated just behind her, tried to touch the woman during the flight. While the woman ignored his advances on the first occasion, she reported the matter to the cabin crew when he repeated the act.
While the Indigo staff took note of the complaint and co-passenger raised objection, the businessman tried to settle the matter by apologising to the woman.
Later, when the flight landed at Bhubaneswar Airport, the cabin crew informed the ground staff of Indigo who intimated the matter to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The CISF made a preliminary investigation and reported the incident to Airfield Police which detained the accused.02/02/15 New Indian Express
