Develop airport: FRAT

Thiruvananthapuram: The Federation of Residents’ Association (FRAT) has called for immediate steps by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the government to expedite development of Thiruvananthapuram international airport.

With the government sanctioning the Vizhinjam international deep water seaport project, the airport would assume more importance.

Moves to sabotage the airport’s development should not be encouraged, FRAT president Pattom Sasidharan Nair and general secretary M.S. Venugopal said.

For any airport, easy access to the city is the most important factor.

But here, passengers have to take a winding seven-km journey from the new international terminal to reach the domestic terminal.
