Air France flights to Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai cancelled on account of strike

New Delhi: Air France flights from Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai to Paris were cancelled on Monday and could be affected till September 22 following a strike call given by several of the airline's pilots' unions.

The strike has been called to protest the airline decision to shift jobs and operations to low-cost carriers so that the airline is in a better position to face competition. On the first day of the strike, the airline said it expects to operate 48 per cent of its flights.

KLM-Air France announces Independence Day special offer in India

Mumbai: European carrier Air France-KLM today joined the bandwagon of international airlines offering discounted tickets to the outbound Indian passengers with the launch of a limited period 20 per cent discount scheme on Air France, KLM and Delta flights. The ‘Independence Day special’ offer is valid for bookings made in India between August 11 and August 15 for travel between October 1 and December 15, the airline said in a release.

As India celebrates its 67th Independence Day this year, Air France-KLM will give customers a special reason to enjoy the celebrations and book discounted travel to mesmerising Europe combining with upcoming long weekend breaks and Dussehra holidays, it said. Air France-KLM group, with a global network of 231 destinations across 103 countries, operates from its hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol airports, respectively.

Competition from Gulf carriers has made Indian mkt tough: Air France-KLM

Paris : Competition from Gulf carriers has made the burgeoning Indian aviation market “tough” and Air France-KLM would have to upgrade its image to address this challenge, the airline’s global CEO has said.

“Of course, Indian market is an important one, (mainly due to an) enormous population and a growing economy but it is a difficult one,” Air France-KLM CEO Alexandre de Juniac told PTI in an interview here, stressing that competition was “tough” in India primarily due to the Gulf carriers. Flagging concerns about challenge posed by Gulf airlines, Juniac said the scenario needs to be addressed with the right tools. “We have to address that competition with the right tool …meaning the right aircraft, providing the right service and right products.
