Telangana government keen on making Hyderabad an aviation hub with ATF tax cut

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is keen on making Hyderabad an aviation hub by slashing taxes on airline fuel -a move that is expected to lure airlines into moving a bulk of their operations to the city.

The value-added tax on jet fuel currently stands at 16% and slashing it to 4% will make Telangana among the few Indian states to do so. States that reduced tax on jet fuel include Gujarat, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.

Two more Airports are Needed in Hyderabad, says KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao on Monday said Hyderabad need two more airports in the near future as the city’s population was expected to triple to three crore with the development of proposed Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR).
He asked the officials to prepare an international standard master plan for the city with two more airports, satellite townships in 100 km radius, another outer ring road, rapid rail and metro connectivity.
Addressing ministers and top officials here, he said the existing GMR airport in the south Hyderabad has direct flights to many countries.

Chandrababu Naidu tells Centre to rename Hyderabad airport after NTR

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday expressed hope that Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi international airport will be renamed after TDP founder N T Rama Rao.
Naidu said the airport was originally named after former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao but once its location was shifted from Begumpet to Shamshabad, the then Congress government at the Centre renamed it after former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
"The Central government has to do it. This has been our demand," he said after a meeting with Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

GMR Hyderabad Intl Airport gets ACI award

Hyderabad: The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, operated and managed by GMR Group, has bagged the Roll of Excellence award from the Airport Council International, in recognition of the airport being in the top three of the five airports in the world for five consecutive years in certain categories.
