Budget carrier SpiceJet has announced a discount sale offer with fares starting from an all-inclusive Rs 1,999 for specific routes on its domestic network.

The booking for this SpiceJet scheme will remain open till September 16, 2014. This SpiceJet offer is applicable on travel period between October 7, 2014, and January 15, 2015.
SpiceJet has been one of the most aggressive players in offering promotional schemes, announcing more than a dozen offers this year.

Airlines offer low fares even as festive season kicks in

Mumbai: Indian carriers are selling tickets cheap even with the start of the festive season, the only time they can increase fares, an indication that airline companies may find it tough to make up for the throwaway fares they have been offering all year round.

"It is true that airlines are taking longer this year to hike fares, though that will happen in a few weeks," said Rajji Rai, chairman of Swift Group, a travel company. "To that extent, demand is definitely lower," he added.
The average 60-day fare in sectors such as Delhi-Mumbai, Mumbai-Bangalore and Mumbai-Goa is about Rs 3,200, about 20% lower than last year, according to Samyukth Sridharan, chief operating officer at travel portal Cleartrip.

On popular international sectors such as Delhi-Dubai and Mumbai-Hong Kong, the two-month advance fare is Rs 10,500, about 10% lower than the same period last year, said Sridharan.

Airfare war between foreign and domestic airlines in india

Mumbai/New Delhi: Aiming at attracting Indian travellers to major global and domestic destinations, foreign and Indian carriers are vying with each other by offering discounted tickets.

The latest one to join the race is Air France, which is offering a flat discount on three classes of travel to South and Central America, making the tickets cheaper by up to Rs 10,000.

Under its scheme, Air France is offering its customers a discount of Rs 4,000 in economy, Rs 7,000 in premium economy and Rs 10,000 in business class for limited period online bookings, the airline said in a release.

AirAsia India Offers Fares From Rs. 1,290 on Tickets Till December

Budget carrier Air Asia India has come up with yet another discount offer. The airline is offering all-in fares from Rs. 1,290 on different routes. This offer is applicable on bookings till September 7, 2014, and travel period between September 5, 2014 and December 11, 2014.

Under this offer, tickets from Bangalore to Chennai and Kochi and vice versa start from Rs. 1,290. On Bangalore to Goa and vice versa, the promotional fare starts from Rs. 1,690.
AirAsia India currently operates in the Bangalore to Kochi, Chennai, and Goa sectors. From September 5, AirAsia India will start flights from Bangalore to Jaipur and Bangalore to Chandigarh. This would be the budget carrier's first push into north India.

Under this same promotional offer, Bangalore to Chandigarh and Jaipur and vice versa tickets are priced from Rs. 3,490. AirAsia India, a three-way venture between Malaysia-based AirAsia Berhad, Tata Group and investment firm Telestra Tradeplace, had launched its debut flight on June 12.

Budget carrier SpiceJet is also offering tickets for next year at a promotional fare from Rs. 499. This offer is applicable for bookings made till September, 3 2014 and travel date between January 16, 2015, and October 24, 2015 (both dates inclusive).

IndiGo Joins Fare War with All-Time Low Fares from Rs 999

It is raining discounts for air travelers in India with more airlines joining the fare war. Budget carrier IndiGo has come up with a promotional scheme with fares starting from an all-inclusive Rs. 999. This promotional offer is available on bookings of 90 days or more in advance of the travel date.
This offer from IndiGo comes just a week after the airline had announced a promotional offer a week ago in which prices started from Rs. 1,887.

SpiceJet gets 1,00,000 bookings for special offer tickets priced Rs 499

Loss-making, low-cost airline SpiceJet rolled out yet another cheap fare offer called Early Bird on Monday with tickets priced as low as Rs 499 on its domestic network making it the fifth discount bonanza for fliers in the last two months. Within hours, one lakh tickets for the three-day offer were sold.
The way it was lapped up by customers on Monday indicates a record of sort, an airline source told news agency PTI. "By 4 pm, tickets sale touched the 1-lakh mark," the source said adding, "it expects to set a new sales record in terms of booking in a single day."

Air fare war: Now, Jet Airways announces Rs 500 fare offer on domestic routes

The fare war that started in August last week with SpiceJet and Air India offering special tariffs, saw a new entrant on Tuesday in Jet Airways. Jet Airways on Tuesday announced special fares for domestic flyers traveling in economy class.
The all inclusive fares starts from Rs 500 excluding statutory taxes and customers will be able to enjoy these substantial discounts
across all destinations on the airlines' domestic network. This special fare offer will be not be valid for indirect flights (connecting flights) and for group bookings.

GoAir to give 30% concession to residents of Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Port Blair:  Private airline GoAir today announced 30 per cent concession on base fare of its flights operating to and from Port Blair throughout the year for residents of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

"It is indeed very satisfying to make our humble contribution in the development of Port Blair ... by connecting it to several Indian cities on the mainland," GoAir Vice President (Airports, Customer Services & Nodal Officer) Kamal Kikani said here.

Air India offers Rs 100 fare till August 31 but website leaves consumers frustrated

New Delhi: Even as the state-run carrier celebrated ‘Air India Day’ on Wednesday with a promotional Rs 100 fare offer, its online booking website crashed within minutes of the announcement causing disappointment for the many hopeful passengers eyeing a good deal and the Air India website's service is still unavailable on Thursday.
Air India had announced discounted tickets offer for Rs 100 for a limited period to celebrate its merger with erstwhile Indian Airlines. Under the 'Air India Offer' — a scheme offering tickets for Rs 100 apart from all applicable taxes — tickets are being sold through the airline’s website exclusively for five days from August 27 to 31 for travel between August 27 and September 30 this year.
However, after few hours of the announcement of the offer, customers started facing problem in accessing Air India website with messages such as 'service unavailable' page.

New Delhi: After spicejet, Air India and Indigo airlines, now AirAsia is offering big discounts on air ticket.

The Malaysian no-frills carrier has offered 3 million promo seats across AirAsia network from now till 31 Aug 2014.

Passengers cry foul as Kerala-Dubai airfares skyrocket

Dubai: Airfares to Dubai from the Indian state of Kerala have skyrocketed by more than four times from now until the first few days of September as a result of the end of summer vacations and upcoming Onam festival.

Return airfare from Kozhikode, Kerala, to Dubai has gone up from around Rs19,000 (Dh1,150) a few weeks ago to as much as Rs78,500 (Dh4,790) around Onam (September 9), leading passengers in Kerala scrambling to other airports in India for cheaper options.

After offering tickets for Rs 100, Air India website crashes

Mumbai: In order to celebrate its alliance with Indian Airlines creating National Aviation Company of India Limited, Air India offered its tickets for Rs 100 to passengers. But this resulted in major surge in traffic on the web portal www.airindia.com before the website eventually crashed.

The website went down, with a message on the website that stated 'Service Unavailable'.
The sale of these tickets will start from August 27 and close on August 31, a five-day booking for travel during the period of August 27 to September 30. However, the booking has to be done only through the airline's website, which is not accessible currently.

Is Air India's Rs. 100 ticket only a publicity gimmick?

New Delhi: In a major technical fault, the website of Air India crashed on Wednesday just few minutes after they offered travelers huge discount on tickets. Actually, the company had availed its tickets for just Rs. 100 (excluding taxes) to its customers to celebrate its merger with previous Indian Airlines. The offer was valid for five days from August 27 to 31 for travelling between August 27 and September 30 and the tickets were availed over company’s official website. However, it now just appears to be a gimmick to gain popularity in the aviation industry.

The national carrier had availed discounts to mark August 27 as ‘Air India Day’ when they amalgamated with erstwhile Indian Airlines and became one Air India in 2007.

SpiceJet offers 'festive season' fares for as low as Rs 1888

New Delhi:  Rolling out yet another limited- period special fares offer, no-frill carrier SpiceJet today announced discounts on one-way all-inclusive fares starting as low as Rs 1,888.

The catch is you will have to book your flight by August 27 and travel between September 25 and January 15, an airline spokesperson said, adding the offer is applicable on all direct, via and onward flights on SpiceJet's domestic network.
There would be "limited inventory under the offer which will be available on first-come-first-served basis and is not applicable on group bookings," he said.

SpiceJet Offers Fares From Rs 1,888 in Festive Season Offer

Budget carrier has come out with yet another discount offer. Under the festive season offer, SpiceJet is offering all-in fares from Rs 1,888.

This limited-period offer is valid on booking till August 27, 2014 (inclusive) and travel between September, 25, 2014 and January, 15, 2015 (both dates inclusive).

Fix airfares ceiling, Kerala asks Centre

Thiruvananthapuram: The central government should take appropriate steps to fix a ceiling on airfares in the Middle-East sector, said a Kerala minister.

State Minister for Diaspora K.C. Joseph told reporters here Thursday that over the last many years airline companies have been exploiting those who travel to and from the Middle-East and this is all the more during the peak season when fares are jacked up eight to ten times as compared to the off-season.
