InterGlobe Enterprises announces two appointments

InterGlobe Enterprises, aviation, hospitality and travel-related service company, announced appointments for two of its strategic businesses. Anil Parashar has been appointed as the President and CEO of InterGlobe Technology Quotient (ITQ) and JB Singh will take over his new role as President and CEO of InterGlobe Hotels.

Before joining ITQ, Parashar was the Group Chief Financial Officer for InterGlobe Enterprises and a member of the Executive Committee. In his new role, Parashar will be responsible for expanding and identifying key strategic opportunities for ITQ. He succeeds JB Singh, who held the position of President and CEO for ITQ. (ITQ is the official distributor of Travelport Galileo and Travelport Worldspan in India and Sri Lanka.)

Airfare should specify travel agent fee: Govt

Mumbai: The civil aviation ministry has decided to allow airlines to charge a transaction fee but has insisted the amount be part of the airfare and not outside it.
In his order last week, Civil Aviation Secretary K N Srivastava ruled the meanings of transaction fee, commission or convenience fee were the same — payment of remuneration to an intermediary. The order said all these were permissible, if shown as a part of the fare, and no sum was collected from consumers over this.
The  order will allow airlines to follow dual pricing (differential fares) "Price differential can exist between a ticket purchased directly from an airline counter or their website or through its website and through an intermediary,'' the aviation secretary’s order said.
"It is an accepted principle that a passenger should be charged only for the services utilised. Therefore, if he has not availed the services of travel agents, it would not be appropriate to burden with the commission payable to travel agents.”

JK minister pitches for 30th IATO convention at Srinagar

Kochi: Assuring travel trade fraternity of India that Kashmir was safe for tourists, Minister for Tourism, G A Mir made a passionate appeal to tourists to visit the beautiful locales of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the valedictory function of 29th IATO convention, Mir urged the management of Indian Association of Tour Operators to organize 30th convention at Srinagar.
“I have held long deliberations with members of IATO to organize their next convention in Kashmir and I have got positive feedback from them,” Mir told Greater Kashmir on the sidelines of 29th IATO convention at Kochi here.
