Jammu: After being cornered by the aviation regulator Directorate
General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for flying full, three major airlines
to evade action are unilaterally canceling the booking of passengers at
the last minute.
Sources said that three airlines were served notices by the regulator for allegedly violating the safety norms by flying full from Jammu airport.
According to sources the airlines, IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir were threatened with stoppage of operations to airports with small runways if found guilty of flouting payload restrictions while flying to and from Jammu.
Though the airlines have filed their response, details of the responses could not be immediately known.
The DGCA had asked them to explain why they were carrying full-load of passengers and cargo to Patna and Jammu where they should have been flying with 20 per cent less load to ensure safe landing and take-offs on the small runways there.
