Chandigarh: A small private charter company Himalayan Bulls Airlines has seized the opportunity missed by majors in airlines sector. The Himalayan Bulls Airlines is operating non scheduled charter flights from Chandigarh to Kull and is likely to commence flights to Shimla.
The company is currently running three-flights a day to Kullu from Chandigarh, at a time when tourists flock places like Manali and Shimla. The company is also working on running flights from Chandigarh to Shimla.
"The response has been good for flight to Kullu even though not many still know about the new services," says managing director, Budhi Parkash. His company had tied up with Deccan Charter to run eight-seaters aircrafts between Chandigarh and Kullu.
Poor air flight connectivity has been bane of high end tourism in the state. A single regular Air India flight to Kullu says the sorry state of affairs. But the potential for air passenger in the state is not latent.
In the last few years Kingfisher and Jet Airways had run flights to Shimla and Kullu. But Kingfisher withdrew flights due to its financial constraints. Jet also faced similar issues. Lack of infrastructure for bigger aircrafts is also a deterrent for major airlines companies. An expansion of airports at Shimla and Kullu is on the cards but project are long drawn.
