Bhubaneswar: The proposal to permit international operations by FlyDubai
on Bhubaneswar-Dubai route has been turned down by the Civil Aviation
Ministry on Monday.
The decision was taken as bilateral air traffic rights between India and UAE could not materialise, sources said. The State Government has been pushing for the commencement of international operations on this route with the Centre since long.
On September 17, Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati had submitted an application to Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, V Somasundaran, and requested for provisional permission to FlyDubai to start international flight operations from Bhubaneswar. Among the international operators, which had approached the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) authorities to operate through Bhubaneswar, only FlyDubai had announced its schedule for Odisha.
