Rourkela/Bhubaneswar: To resume regular flight service from Rourkela
airstrip, the state government on Monday asked the Rourkela Steel Plant
(RSP) officials to submit a fresh proposal, official sources said. RSP
is the custodian of the airstrip in the Steel City.
Chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati chaired a meeting in Bhubaneswar in this regard. Representatives from the Airports Authority of India, director of Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, RSP, Sundargarh district administration and members of Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rattended it. Increasing the length of runway of the airstrip was discussed. The existing runway is 6,000 feet.
"The RSP and the RCCI are keen to start flight operations from the airstrip. We have to wait for the response of fight service operators," Biju Patnaik International Airport director Sharad Kumar told the media.
