New Delhi: With fog being a huge problem at the Indira Gandhi
International Airport here from December to February, airport officials,
the Meteorological Department and airline operators are getting ready
to deal with the situation.
While the Delhi airport has CAT-IIIB-enabled runways and all the technical ability to deal with the low-visibility period, there is not much that can be done when visibility falls below 50 metres.
R.K. Jenamani, the director of the Meteorological Department at the airport, said while the Department is able to predict whether foggy conditions will occur or not with 90 per cent accuracy, it cannot pinpoint the exact timing.
