Ranchi: Services of aerobridge would be added to Birsa Munda Airport very soon. According to sources two aerobridges would start functioning from February 7.
It would be a huge relief to the passengers as they would be able to reach the aircrafts directly from the terminal building. With the installation of the aerobridges the passengers would not have board the buses or take the stairs to get on the aircraft. Work related to installation of the aerobridges is going on in full swing.
Airport director Raghabendra Raju said that the passengers would get the facility tentatively from February 7.
Airport sources said that the estimated cost for installation of the aerobridges would be about Rs 2 Crores. The aerobridges will conform to the requirements for Airbus and Boeing 737 and 800 aircrafts.
Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi receives footfalls of about 1000 passengers at day at an average. The passengers would reach the terminal building from the aircraft within 15 minutes of the arrival of the aircraft, sources said.
