Surat: In an attempt to increase flight connectivity from Surat, the airport authority here has started contacting top airline companies to come and set up their operations in the city.
Surat airport earned a bad name after a buffalo hit a SpiceJet aircraft during take off on November 6, 2014. A stray buffalo had ventured into the airport premises and reached the runway when the Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight was taking off in the evening.
SpiceJet decided to terminate its operations from Surat airport on November 8, 2014. It was operating flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Bhubaneshavar and Thiruvananthpura from Surat.
