Budget carrier IndiGo joined the fare war, after rivals SpiceJet and Jet Airways offered big discounts to woo travellers during low travel demand season.
IndiGo is offering fares as low as Rs 1,499 on advance bookings. For this IndiGo offer, bookings should be made 90 days before the travel date.
While Jet Airways has offered all-inclusive to-and-fro tickets on certain routes, starting Rs 4,459, SpiceJet put on the block half a million seats with ticket prices starting at Rs 1,499.
AirAsia India too has announced a discount fare scheme.
January-March and July-September quarters of the fiscal are traditionally low travel demand period in the country. So airlines roll out such discount fare schemes to woo customers.
According to travel portal Yatra.com, the domestic carriers seem to be now focusing on getting advance bookings while not ruling out a few more such offerings before the peak demand season sets in.
