Navi Mumbai airport project gets new impetus

Mumbai: The Rs-14,000 crore Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) project has got a boost, with four national and international bidders now vying to bag the job of being the developer and operator for the greenfield airport.

In response to its Request for Qualification (RFQ), the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has received applications from GMR Airports, a consortium of Hiranandani Group and Zurich Airport in Switzerland, MIA Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd and Mumbai International Airports Pvt Ltd (MIAL), the operator of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
GMR Airports Ltd is the operator for airports in New Delhi and Hyderabad while MIA Infrastructure is a company promoted Tata Realty and Infrastructure and French group Vinci Airports SA, the operator for Lisbon airport.
