Chennai: The Customs Department in Chennai airport is planning to implement a single-window clearance for cargo, following the rescent announcement by the government.
Chief Commissioner of Customs S Ramesh said on Tuesday that the department was working with several others to get the work done.
The implementation of the measure would ensure high-ranking in doing business - a top priority of the government.
“The country is part of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) so Customs procedures should be aligned with global trade,” he said.
The Customs Chief Commissioner was inaugurating a sensitisation programme on coordinated border management to mark International Customs Day 2015, here at the airport on Tuesday.
The main focus of the programme was to educate personnel on the requirements to be fulfilled before a consignment can be cleared.
