SpiceJet heats up low-fare race

Heating up the low-fare race, budget airline, SpiceJet is offering five lakh air tickets at discounted rates in a three day sale beginning on 28th January, 2015.
SpiceJet has priced the tickets from Rs 1,499 onwards. The discount tickets are available for travel from 15th February to 30th June.

The airline has been operating a truncated schedule with 200-210 flights on a daily basis, with a 34-plane fleet. SpiceJet has got the green signal from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to sell tickets beyond March end.

SpiceJet is also going to see change in its management with the ex-director and founder, Ajay Singh taking charge of the airline. The air carrier has been witnessing steep losses, overdue payments and high debts.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of TripFactory.com, Vinay Gupta said, the offer from SpiceJet after a time-interval of few months indicates the airline is back on the track.

Adding further that the time period for which the airline is offering discount tickets covers the summer vacation, giving people a good opportunity to plan their holidays.
