Lucknow: City's amateur and budding artists may soon find a new platform to showcase their talent—Lucknow airport. Union ministry of civil aviation has asked the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to set up a dedicated art gallery at the new terminal building of Amausi airport where upcoming painters and sculptors, may put up their creations for public viewing and even sale.
Airport director S C Hota confirmed the space will be provided free of cost to the artists. In case an exhibit gets sold, however, 10% of the cost will have to be paid to the AAI. "The decision is essentially aimed to improve the ambience of the airport," he told TOI.
AAI sources said a glass room near boarding gate number 4 on the first floor of the building has been identified for the purpose. "The site will not affect the passenger movement and airport operations," a senior official said.
