Vijayapura: The airport in Vijayapura may take years to be operational, but on Saturday, about 15 flights took off here in the presence of hundreds of onlookers.
The only difference was that that these airplanes were remote-operated and miniature models of the big aircraft that flew in the sky at Ambedkar Stadium.
The district administration had arranged the aeromodelling show as part of the ongoing Navaraspur Utsav here.
A Belagavi-based institution, Aerosport Hobby Centre, had brought to the city these different types of airplanes whose manoeuvring skills were displayed at the event. The models included Drone or Hexacopter, which was gaining popular for aerial video recording, Controlled-Line aeronautic, a small plane whose flight is controlled using the tread, Disk flyer that resembles a flying saucer, and Electric Flying and Low-winger.
