Ahmedabad: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the city crime branch submitted before the court on Wednesday that they were obtaining call details of the airport staff, Customs officials and CISF personnel at Ahmedabad airport to find more about the smuggling of 60 kg gold worth Rs 16.5 crore.
The investigating agency maintained that call details are being gathered to find whether there is a nexus between authorities and the accused persons caught at the airport.
While seeking 14-day remand of five persons arrested with gold on Tuesday - Clifford D'Costa, Virendrasingh Jaglan, Sapna Dipakbhai, Jaivirsingh Shamshersingh, Kapil Jagdevsingh and driver Dinesh Desai, prosecutor Y K Vyas submitted that custodial interrogation was required to find information related to the alleged crime. All six have been booked under Sections 406, 411, 420 and 120B of IPC.
