Confiscated 23.5 kg gold returned on paying fine

Kochi: It has come to light that gold sold at certain big jewellery shops in Kochi are the ones once confiscated by Customs Officials at airports. The jewellers bought gold ornaments after selling gold blocks.


In a raid conducted on Saturday, police seized 23.5 kg gold from a jeweller and they could get information on  smuggling business going on in the City. The gold was later returned after the fine and tax for the gold were remitted.
