Hyderabad: A 54-year-old brain dead woman’s liver from Guntur was airlifted and transplanted on a 43-year-old man in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Thanks to the efforts of Hyderabad police a green channel was created for transporting the liver from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad to KIMS Hospital on the Minister’s Road.
Dhanamma, a resident of Mangalagiri in Guntur district, met with a road accident 10 days ago while riding pillion on a bike. She was working as an attender at a school and was returning home from when the accident occurred.
She was being treated at NRI Hospital at Mangalagiri and was declared brain dead by doctors on Saturday.
