Jharsuguda airstrip inspection tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) chairman R K Srivastav is scheduled to visit proposed Jharsuguda airport on Wednesday to review progress of work for terminal building and expansion of runway.

Jharsuguda airstrip will be upgraded into a full-fledged airport to facilitate landing of big aircraft like Boeing 767 and Airbus A-321, official sources said.


Biju Patnaik International Airport director Sharad Kumar said a team of technical officers will accompany the chairman. "The runway expansion work will begin after the chairman's inspection. The runway will be extended from 1,822 metre to 2,391 metre," Kumar added.
