Indian national Nishad Nasar is afraid to fly. Not because he has a phobia of flying, but because he has been detained repeatedly by police forces of two emirates in the past five years — all because he shares his name with that of a wanted criminal in the country.
Nasar, 31, has been detained at two airports in the UAE at least four times.
Despite having a certificate of good conduct from the Dubai Police, Nasar is afraid to fly, even though the certificate did prevent him from getting arrested when he landed at the Dubai Airports earlier this year.
Marking the fourth time he was detained over his name, on February 27 this year, Nasar was stopped at the airport when coming from India, but was released after the law enforcement authorities realised he was not their man.
