NEW DELHI: Air India has suspended the commander who was caught drunk in Sharjah on Saturday just before operating a flight to India. The airline has instituted an inquiry and will take further action — that could even be termination of service — as this is the third time this particular captain has failed pre-flight breath analyser test.
"The civil aviation authority of Sharjah will send their report to the Indian DGCA on this case. AI has already informed the regulator. Since he has been reportedly found 'heavily intoxicated', DGCA may have no option but to suspend his flying licence for five years, which almost means he cannot fly as a pilot ever again in an Indian airline," said a source.
