HYDERABAD: With the farmers refusing to part with their land and opposition parties launching movements against land acquisition, the AP government's grand plan to build an international airport near Visakhapatnam and to develop five other airports has hit a major road block.
Developing a greenfield airport at Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam has turned into a major controversy with all political parties joining hands to oppose the project. The government's proposal to acquire 15,000 acres for the international airport has also received criticism from all quarters on the grounds that there is no rationale for such a massive land acquisition by the TDP government.
