‘FLIGHT SAFETY UPGRADE IS AN EYEWASH’

Days after America's pat for DGCA, insiders raise stink about process; two flight operations inspectors quit.

Days after the US aviation regulator upgraded India's aviation safety rating citing based on measures taken by the country to improve safety standards, two flight operations inspectors (FOIs) have resigned from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) citing work culture issues.

Of the 75 FOIs that the government wanted to hire, the DGCA managed to get just 55, many of whom have not even finished training. "There is really no need for recruiting 75 FOIs," an FOI from the first lot said. "The entire task has been managed with about 35 so far. The rest are being trained by us."
