Kangra airport set for expansion

DHARAMSHALA: Located at the height of 2,492 feet above sea level and spread over 1,269 acres, the scenic airport of the Himachal Pradesh may finally get the expansion plan rolling after a decade-long wait. Urban development minister Sudhir Sharma has passed orders to locate the land for the expansion of the Kangra airport within a month.


This announcement was made after a meeting of airport authority with the minister on Friday at circuit house in Dharamshala. Minister said that he had recently met chief of the Airport Authority of India R K Sirvastva and had apprised him about the situation asking him to send a team to study the expansion of this airport. Following which a team from Delhi arrived here and after working on the field for two days a meeting was held here on Friday.
