Man held with 320g gold at airport

AHMEDABAD: The Air Intelligence Unit of Customs department on Thursday held a Patiala-based man for smuggling 320 grams of gold worth Rs 8.78 lakh at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Gurpreet Singh was held with two gold bars which were concealed in rectum. Singh was coming from Bangkok via Mumbai.


Singh had arrived from Air India's flight AI-331 from Mumbai on Thursday. "He was coming from Bangkok. A search was carried out on the basis of suspicion and we recovered two gold bars of 319.27 grams from his rectum," said a Customs official.
