Vijayawada: A major air mishap was averted when the pilot of
Chennai-bound Air Costa flight detected a glitch in one of the engines
minutes before it was scheduled to take off from the Gannavaram Airport
on Wednesday. However, the delay caused by the technical snag did not go
down well with the passengers leading to a tussle between them and the
crew.
The Vijayawada-Chennai Air Costa flight number LB661, supposed to take off at 4.30 pm, was delayed for two hours and the passengers finally boarded the plane around 6.30 pm. "We intimated the passengers about the delay. Hence, the security clearance and boarding took more time than usual. After the pilot was given the green signal, he aborted the take-off on spotting a technical glitch that could potentially cause one of the engines to fail," said M Raj Kishore, director of Gannavaram Airport.
