Mumnbai: Air India's shortage of pilots forced the airline to reschedule three flights from Mumbai on Saturday, affecting 200 passengers.
The national carrier has been battling pilot shortage for a while now as it lost a number of its A320 pilots to rival airlines. It also has a shortage of Boeing 787 pilots. On Saturday, the airline realised that it did not have cockpit crew to operate its flights to Dubai and Hong Kong, said an airline source.
While the Dubai flight was being operated with an A330 aircraft, the Hong Kong one was to be operated with a B787. The Dubai flight which was to depart at 6.24 pm on Saturday evening have been rescheduled to 6am o Sunday. The Hong Kong and Incheon flights which were to depart on Saturday evening have been clubbed together and will now depart at 9 am, Sunday.
