Seaplane service operator MEHAIR, which had launched its first flight service between Nashik and Pune recently, has announced its decision to temporarily hold back the service from next week because of factors "beyond its control". Company authorities, however, clarified that these factors, when addressed in the near future, will ensure the restart of the service .
MEHAIR authorities said one of the major issues affecting the service at this point is the limited watch hours and the high charges of operating out of Ozar airport, affecting the viability of the operation.
"MEHAIR appreciates that the government has laid down norms and rules regarding charges for air operations from the civil enclave at Nashik airport and that the airport may be unable to provide the ATC Watch extension beyond 1630 Hrs. However, a nine seat aircraft is simply incapable of working under a high cost structure for watch extension from any airport as the market will simply reject a high value ticket at the very beginning of the operation," said the authorities of the company in a news release issued on Saturday.
