JAISALMER: Businessmen related to tourism and hotel owners of Jaisalmer
are losing their patience as the civil airport, which is ready for the
last 3 years with all modern facilities, has not operated a single
flight till date. As a result tourism in the city is getting affected.
Although the civil aviation department is in touch with many companies
providing air service, for starting flights to Jaisalmer but no company
has shown any interest in starting flights from Jaisalmer.
These companies have conducted surveys. Since the tourism season is only for six months, no company is ready to start the service. In the first week of August, a special team from civil aviation department will be coming to Jaisalmer to conduct a survey and to inspect the arrangements at the civil airport. Every year, over 100 private chartered planes come here, which clearly shows that there is a need for air service to Jaisalmer.
