Surat: Surtis can fly high once again! Eight months after the city lost its sole air connectivity to New Delhi, India's flag carrier Air India is all set to start operations from the Diamond City.
After a meeting with Air India team led by its chairman Rohit Nandan, Navsari MP CR Patil confirmed to TOI that Air India will start the much-needed daily flights to Mumbai and New Delhi
Instead of the present 72-seater aircraft to New Delhi that operates six days a week, AI will provide 140-seater Airbus319 that will fly in the morning. In the evening, AI plans to start 178-seater Airbus 320 to Delhi.
"The proposal to start an ATR aircraft on Mumbai-Surat route has been sent to DGCA for clearance," Patil said.
