Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government today said that it wanted to have an international airport in Agra and has also offered land for the same, but did not get Centre's approval.
"Our government wanted international airport at Agra and had offered the land for the same, but the Centre is not approving it," state Tourism Minister Om Prakash Singh said in the state Assembly here.
Singh was speaking in the House during Question Hour in a reply to a question raised by BSP member Dharmpal Singh.
The member sought to know from the government about its policy to attract more tourists in the state.
"The number of tourists are decreasing day by day. The government should make attempts to ensure night stay of tourists so that its benefit could reach locals. An International airport is required at Agra," Dharmpal said.
