New Delhi: The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the aviation
security wing of the government, is likely to get a new chief in AP
Maheshwari, an Indian Police Service Officer from the 1984 batch, after a
gap of about three years.
Maheshwari is currently posted as additional director general with the Border Security Force and he has been recommended by the civil aviation ministry and sent for approval to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
"We had received three names from the home ministry and have selected AP Maheshwari, whose name has been sent to the ACC," said a senior civil aviation ministry official. The appointment, which is happening right in time for the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) audit scheduled in November, will fill the cor ner office at BCAS that is lying vacant since November 2012 after GS Malhi retired.
