Mumbai: Taxis plying for aggregators have to be parked at the
"pay-and-park" lot at domestic and international airports and the
additional burden is being borne by commuters, who end up paying Rs 110
in parking costs over and above the fare.
Said a regular Uber user, "At airports in other cities, there is no such additional charge. Why should we pay Rs 110 extra for a cab at Mumbai airport?
An Ola official, however, said that their cabs are presently not levying the extra charge on passengers at the airport, but the company may take a final call next week.
In the past, taxis plying for aggregators would randomly park near the terminal gates, and once the passenger arrived and booked the cab, they would proceed towards the pick-up stand. There was no surcharge levied. "But now we have directed them to the pay and park lot in order to decongest the airport roads," said a MIAL source.
